About ROHIT

An elegant and flamboyant batter, Rohit Sharma is one of India's premier batters who has endeared the cricket world with his elegance, timing and big hitting prowess.

Popularly known as the 'Hitman' who can destroy the best of the bowling attacks, Rohit Sharma is a record-breaker and one of the finest captains in world cricket.

He got off to a good start in his international career with crucial contributions in the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the CB Series in Australia. He almost made his Test debut in 2010 against South Africa but he injured himself on the morning of the Test match; Rohit would then have to wait for three more years to finally represent India in whites. When the chance arrived to represent India in the Whites, the Mumbai batter grabbed it with both hands and scored 288 runs from two Tests in his debut series, against West Indies in 2013, including a century on debut, finishing as the Player of the Series in what happened to be the great Sachin Tendulkar's farewell series.

One of the biggest turning points of his career arrived in 2012 when he was then promoted to open the innings, a move that proved to be a masterstroke as he transformed himself into a record-breaker. It was a move which helped him in Tests as well as he scored centuries in three out of his first four innings as an opener. Hundreds turned into 'Daddy Hundreds' in white-ball cricket. He's scored the most double hundreds in ODIs - 3. He's hit the most sixes in ODIs and holds the record for scoring most centuries in a single edition of the ODI World Cup - 5, in 2019 World Cup.

A calm, composed and an astute leader, Rohit has led the Indian Team to the final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and WTC 2023.
