About

Shikhar Dhawan’s journey from the streets of West Delhi to becoming one of India's most explosive opening batsmen is a tale of perseverance and natural talent. Dhawan made his debut for Delhi in the 2004-05 season of the Ranji Trophy, India's premier domestic first-class competition. His aggressive stroke play and ability to take on the opposition bowlers quickly made him a standout performer in domestic cricket.

Shikhar Dhawan made his international debut for India in a T20I against Australia in October 2011. However, it was in June 2013 during the ICC Champions Trophy in England that he truly announced his arrival on the international stage. Dhawan's sensational century against South Africa in the tournament opener marked the beginning of a prolific journey in limited-overs cricket.

In the same Champions Trophy, Dhawan made history by becoming the fastest to reach 1,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs). His aggressive yet elegant batting style at the top of the order earned him accolades and established him as a permanent fixture in the Indian limited-overs squads. He has been a key contributor to India's success in ICC tournaments. He has consistently performed well in major events, including the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC Cricket World Cup.

Known primarily as a limited-overs specialist, Dhawan has also enjoyed success in Test cricket. He made a memorable Test debut against Australia in 2013, scoring the fastest century by a debutant in Test history. His ability to play attacking and entertaining cricket has added a new dimension to India's top order in the longer format.

Dhawan's camaraderie with his teammates and his love for the sport make him a popular figure both on and off the field. As one of the most dynamic and entertaining opening batsmen in contemporary cricket, Dhawan’s journey is a testament to his flair for the game and his ability to perform on the grandest stages.
