A canny pacer, a partnership breaker, and an impact player, Shardul Thakur is utility player who has taken giant strides in International cricket in the last few years. Once known for his outswingers, Shardul has added a wide range of variety to his armory with the changing demands of the game. Along with the outswinger, he possesses cutters, cross-seamer, split-finger variation and knuckle ball. He can hit the hard lengths and bowl the effort ball to surprise the batters. A handy lower-order batter, Thakur can change the course of the game with his aggressive approach.
After consistent performances in the domestic circuit for Mumbai, Shardul sprung into limelight when he played a crucial role in helping Mumbai lift the 41st Ranji Trophy title with eight wickets in the final against Saurashtra, including a five-for in the fourth innings. A year later, he donned the India jersey as he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo where he bowled an impressive spell of 7-0-26-1. In 2018, he made his T20I and Test debuts, against Sri Lanka and West Indies respectively. In the last few years he's fast gained the reputation of a partnership-breaker and an impact player.
