A talented all-rounder, Deepti Sharma has been one of the most consistent performers for Team India in the last few
years. She brings plenty of qualities to the table, and that's why she is one of the best all-rounders in the
business right now. A clever off-spinner, Sharma possesses the ability to outfox the batters with spin, flight,
drift, and guile. She has the ability to bowl frugal spells, develop pressure, and pick wickets. She can bowl in the
Powerplay, middle and the slog overs. A plucky left-handed batter, Sharma can bat in almost any position. She's
opened the batting, batted in the middle, lower-middle, and lower order as well in international cricket. Of late,
she's played the finisher's role to aplomb with her nerveless batting in the middle order.
Sharma donned
the Indian jersey at the young age of 17 years and 96 days, when she made her ODI debut against South Africa in
Bengaluru in 2014, and impressed straight away with a tight spell of 2/35 from 10 overs. Soon she was breaking
records as she smashed 188 (160) against Ireland in Potchefstroom, opening the batting — the second-highest
individual score at the time in 50-over format. In the process, she added a record 320-run opening stand with Punam
Raut —the first 300-run stand in Women's ODIs.
Two years later, she became the youngest Indian woman to
scalp a five-for when she recorded figures of 6/20 against Sri Lanka in Ranchi. She made her T20I debut in the same
year and impressed with 4-0-19-1 against Australia in Sydney. She started off her Test career on a bright note,
picking up three wickets in the first innings and scoring 83 runs (29* in the first innings and 54 in the second),
against England in Bristol in 2021. Sharma is the first Indian woman to register a double of 1000 runs and 100
wickets in T20Is. One of the best all-rounders currently, Sharma is a vital cog of the Indian team.
