A combined effort by the Mumbai attack helped the team to a single-digit first innings lead against Uttar Pradesh. In the match against Baroda, Saurabh Wakaskar’s ton helped Railways to a solid first innings lead in Nagpur.
Chandrakant Sukare picked a four-for against Gujarat while Tamil Nadu’s Vignesh K picked his four-for and Sudip Chatterjee posted a century for Bengal. Leading up the sixth round of the ongoing season, the TN youngster already has picked two five-wicket hauls and a four-wicket haul.

After Uttar Pradesh resumed their innings on 22 for one, the Mumbai attack bowled out the side for 225 to take a narrow eight-run first innings lead. While Tushar Deshpande picked three wickets, Vishal Dabholkar and A Dhumal took two wickets each and Shardul Thakur accounted for one. Abhishek Nayar then wrapped up the innings with two wickets.
As they looked to build on the lead, Mumbai had lost two wickets until stumps. While Kaustubh Pawar was sent back by Ankit Rajpoot to end the opening partnership for 47, Kuldeep Yadav followed up with the wicket of Dhumal in the next. Akhil Herwadkar then took the team to stumps with Shreyas Iyer.

Saurabh Wakaskar’s century complemented by S Shukla’s 51 and M Rawat’s 72 down the order helped Railways to a 127-run first innings lead. After resuming on 39 without loss, the team posted 310 runs in the first innings before being bowled out later in the day.
At stumps, openers Kedar Devdhar and Aditya Waghmode had taken Baroda to 27 without loss in the second innings.

After resuming on 224 for four on the second morning, Gujarat were bowled out for 302 later in the day. Manprit Juneja anchored the innings with a 153 ball 79 before being sent back by Chandrakant Sakure to leave the team on 297 for nine. The bowler finished with a four-for while Gourav Yadav picked three wickets as they bowled Gujarat out.
In reply, MP were 172 for five at stumps. Rajat Patidar, who looked to hold the innings together, was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah for 71. Axar Patel and R Kalaria picked two wickets each to put MP on the back foot.

Powered by Sudip Chatterjee’s century, Bengal posted 337 in the first innings before being bowled out on the second day. After the Manoj Tiwary-led side resumed their innings on 190 for three on Day 2, Vignesh K claimed four wickets to help bowl the side out for the addition of 147 runs to the overnight score. In reply, Tamil Nadu were 60 for one at stumps with K Gandhi and Abhinav Mukund in the middle.
