England skipper Eoin Morgan carried his side to a famous last-ball win against India at the Wankhede Stadium. This was the third occasion when the Men in Blue have lost a game off the last ball in the shortest format. No other international side has suffered this fate as many times. While England finished their innings and the series with a bang, their openers also gave them a sublime start. Michael Lumb and Alex Hales, who added 80 for the opening wicket, managed to score a whopping 34 runs off the first three over of the innings. This is the most number of runs conceded by India in the first three overs in their T20 history.

Virat Kohli became the leading run-scorer in international cricket in 2012, moving ahead of Australia’s Michael Clarke’s tally of 2145 runs.
Interestingly, Virat Kohli has been India's most successful batsman in all the three formats this year! Kohli’s performance in 2012: 689 runs in 9 Tests (avg 49.21), 1026 runs in 16 ODIs (avg 73.28), 435 in 12 T20Is (avg 48.33).
The last time an Indian batsman was the leading run-scorer in international cricket in a calendar year was in 2008 when Virender Sehwag scored 2355 runs.
Gautam Gambhir’s innings of 17 off 27 balls (SR 62.96) is the second slowest for an Indian facing at least 25 balls in a T20I; MS Dhoni scored 9 off 27 balls (SR 33.33) against Australia in 2008.
England raced to 34/0 after the first three overs – the highest score by any team after the first 3 overs against India in Twenty20 Internationals. New Zealand had made 33/0 at Wellington in 2009.
R Ashwin has now conceded 23 sixes off his bowling in Twenty20 Internationals – the most by any Indian. He went ahead of Irfan Pathan, who has conceded 21.
Yuvraj Singh's figures of 3/17 are the best for any bowler in a Twenty20 International in India, beating his own 3/19 in the first match of this series at Pune.
England pulled off the highest successful chase against India in Twenty20 Internationals. Interestingly, the previous highest was also by England when they made 169/4 at Manchester in 2011.
This was only the second instance in Twenty20 Internationals when a match was decided off the last ball with a six. India were at the receiving end in the only other instance as well. Sri Lanka’s Chamara Kapugedera hit Ashish Nehra for a six to give Sri Lanka 5-wicket win at Gros Islet in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
This was the eighth time a match was decided off the last ball (excluding instances where D/L method came into play). India have now suffered this fate on three occasions – the most for any team.
