We collect and why, how we use it, and how to review and update it.The Decision Review System (DRS) will be used in a limited capacity during the semifinals and final of the Ranji Trophy 2019-20.
In each innings, each team shall be allowed to make a maximum of four player review requests that are categorized as unsuccessful.
In terms of the 15-seconds countdown, after a review is taken, the third umpire will communicate the countdown of 15 seconds with the on-field umpire via two-way radio.
To assess whether a batsman is out or not out, the third umpire, after judging whether the delivery is fair, can use the following technologies at his disposal - spin vision, split screen, stump mike and the zoomer which will aid the umpire to make a decision.
When a not out decision for LBW is being reviewed and the replays shows the point of first interception of the ball was more than 9 feet from the stumps, then the not out decision will always remain not out.
Whenever a batsman steps down to play at the ball, the third umpire shall use the side angle camera to decide whether the impact is more than 9 feet from the wickets. The 5 feet marking shall be used as a guide.
The semifinals ā Gujarat versus Saurashtra in Rajkot and Bengal versus Karnataka in Kolkata ā will commence on February 29, while the final will be played from March 9.
