Wet outfield hampers play on Day 3

Wet outfield due to inclement weather did not allow for play to take place on the third day of the four-day match between India Blue and India Green in Kanpur.

When the play had ended on Day 1 India Green were trailing by 77 runs with seven wickets in hand at Stumps of Day 1 in after bundling India Blue out for 177 earlier in the match which would determine the finalist.

With two days of play lost, the outcome (the team who will take on India Red for the Duleep Trophy) is a foregone conclusion regardless of the result.

India Blue already have three points from first innings lead against India Red, while India Green haven’t been able to open their account in the tournament. Even if India Blue concede their first innings lead they will gain 1 point while India Green will receive only three and hence India Blue would book a place in the final. In the event that no result is achieved and the points have to be equally split, India Blue would have added to their three points and will be through to the final.

Scores: End of Day 1 – India Blue 1st inn 177/10 in 52 overs (M Tiwary 78, S Raina 40, P Rasool 5/70, A Choudhary 3/18); India Green 1st inn 100/3 in 31.5 overs (K Gandhi 39, M Juneja 6*, I Sharma 1/15, P Singh 1/17) Trail by 77 runs
End of Day 2 – No play due to rain.
End of Day 3 – No play due wet outfield.
