India women cantered to a thumping nine-wicket win against Zimbabwe women in the fourth game of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 Qualifiers in Sri Lanka. After Poonam Yadav (5/19) bowled the opposition out for a meager 60 runs in the one-day game, the batters chased down the target in nine overs to register the team’s fourth consecutive win. Unbeaten India topped Group A and now have four points courtesy their win over Ireland and Sri Lanka.
After Zimbabwe opted to bat, Mansi Joshi caught M Mupachikwa off her own bowling in the first over, a bit later later Soni Yadav disrupted L Tshuma’s stumps to leave the side on 11 for two.
The spinners then dismantled the lineup to set up the win for India. Leg-spinner Yadav wrecked the middle-order while Rajeshwari Gayakwad claimed two to help bowl Zimbabwe out in 28.5 overs.
Veda Krishnamurthy then opened the batting with Mona Meshram and the pair put together 31 runs in 3.3 overs until the former was sent back by P Marange. With Harmanpreet Kaur, Meshram then took the team to a thumping win.
