Neesham ruled out of first Test

New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham has been ruled out of the first Test against India at Kanpur (Sep 22 - Sep 26) after sustaining a rib injury. Neesham got injured during training ahead of the practice game against Mumbai XI in Feroz Shah Kotla. He did not bat in both the innings and bowled just five overs in the three-day game. 

New Zealand have not named in any replacement for the opening Test as Neesham is expected to be fit for the second Test to be played in Kolkata from 30th September. The visitors have struggled with injuries after their most experienced bowler, Tim Southee was ruled out of the Test series due to a ligament tear on his left ankle.
