Gurvinder Singh claims five-for to set up Himachal’s win

Gurvinder Singh starred in Himachal’s win against Kerala with a five-for in the first innings to set-up the game for his team. Parvez Rasool claimed a five-for to bowl Jammu & Kashmir to a comprehensive win against Goa.

Chhattisgarh have enforced a follow on, against Andhra as they seek to add to their win tally in the ongoing tournament. Tripura seize a first innings lead against Services while the balance is tipped in Haryana’s favour after securing a first innings lead against Hyderabad.

Group C, Round 2 – Day 3 Round-up:

Hyderabad vs Haryana in Jamshedpur:

Although Haryana had secured a first innings lead, left-arm spinner Mehdi Hassan ran through the lineup to bowl them out for 331 on the penultimate day after resuming on 236 for the loss of four wickets in the morning. S Bishnoi was the top-scorer for the side while the rest of the lineup made useful contributions to help the team to a 140 –run lead. Yuzvendra Chahal and S Pahal then claimed two wickets each to leave the opposition on 102 for five at stumps. Hyderabad were trailing by 38 runs with five wickets in hand with K Sumanth batting on 19 at the end of day’s play.

Resuming on 198 for eight, HP lost their last two wickets in the morning as they were bowled out for 261 with a marginal 13-run lead in the first innings. However, off-spinner Gurvinder Singh claimed five wickets while left-arm spinner Mayank Dagar picked three and captain Rishi Dhawan took two to bundle the opposition out for a paltry 115 at the Eden Gardens.

S Warrier then claimed Ankush Bains off the second ball of the innings, but HP chased down the 103-run target with useful contributions from the middle-order. K Monish claimed three wickets in HP’s chase as P Dogra saw the team to the finish line.

Tripura vs Services in Guwahati:
Tripura 1st inn 275/10 in 91.4 overs (G Singh 35, D Pathania 3/71); Services 1st inn 233/10 in 82.5 overs (S Yadav 101*, M Murasingh 3/58); Tripura 2nd inn 280/1 in 79 overs (U Bose 152*, S Patel 104*) Lead by 322 runs.

While S Yadav toiled in an effort to extend the Services innings, M Murasingh ended the tenth wicket partnership for 39 runs in the morning with the wicket of Raj Bahadur to give Tripura a first innings lead.

Having secured a first innings lead. U Bose and S Patel piled on runs in the second innings. Bose was unbeaten on 152 while S Patel was batting on 104 as they took the team to stumps in an unbroken 266-run stand.

With a five-wicket haul in Goa’s second innings, Parvez Rasool helped bowl the opposition out for 295 runs and clinch a win. The spinner ran through the line up on the third day and was complemented by left-arm spinner A Aziz, who claimed two while U Nazir and S Beigh picked a wicket each to hand J & K a win.

Andhra vs Chhattisgarh in Kalyani, Bengal: Chhattisgarh 1st inn 394/10 in 126.4 overs (A Khare 143, A Chauhan 123, D Siva Kumar 4/61); Andhra 1st inn 199/10 in 73.2 overs (B Bhatt 27*, P Rao 4/70) F/o Andhra 2nd inn 122/4 in 65 overs (KS Bharath 57, A Mandal 2/19) Trail by 73 runs

Andhra lost their remaining five wickets to the P Rao-led attack for the addition of 48 runs after resuming on 151 for five in the morning. The pacer claimed a four-wicket haul by left-arm spinner A Mandal picked two wickets to skittle out the opposition. With a 195-run first innings lead, Chhattisgarh enforced a follow on and had left Andhra on 122 for four at stumps on third day as they look to secure a second win with a day left in the match.

Mandal had picked two of the four Andhra wickets that fell in the second innings. At the end of day’s play DB Ravi Teja, who was at the crease was yet to open his account as B Bhatt fell at the stroke of stumps.
