Kedar Jadhav slams century against Assam

Delhi pacers put the team in an advantageous position against Team Rajasthan even as Amitkumar Gautam registered his maiden ton. 12 wickets fell at the Palam Ground in the match between Karnataka and Odisha as bowlers dominated the day.

Sheldon Jackson and Chirag Jani helped Saurashtra to a respectable total as the team were bowled out on the first day while Kedar Jadhav starred for Maharahstra with a sparkling batting display.

Group B, Round 7 - Day 1 Round-up:

Delhi vs Team Rajasthan in Wayanad: Team Raj 1st inn 238/10 in 71.3 overs (A Gautam 106, D Chahar 47, NA Saini 3/28, V Tokas 3/48); Delhi 1st inn 37/0 in 11 overs (S Dhawan 29*, G Gambhir 6*) Trail by 201 runs

Amitkumar Gautam was the mainstay of the Team Rajasthan line-up against Delhi as wickets crumbled at the other end. The opener scored his maiden century as he helped the team to a respectable 238 as the Delhi pacers ran through the line-up after electing to field.

Sumit Narwal, Vikas Tokas and NV Saini picked wickets at regular intervals as they left the opposition on 229 for eight while left-arm spinner Manan Sharma wrapped up the tail to bowl Rajasthan out.
When play ended for the day, Shikhar Dhawan and Gautam Gambhir had taken Delhi to 37 without loss.

The Basant Mohanty-led attack bowled Karnataka out for 179 after electing to field. While Mayank Agarwal was run out for four, Ravikumar Samarth was run out on 26 leaving the team on 58 for two. Without a run added to scoreline, Robin Uthappa was then sent back by Alok Mangaraj. A bit later, Mohanty followed up with the wickets of Stuart Binny and K Abbas to leave Karnataka wobbling on 82 for five.

Bilpab Samantray then accounted for Shreyas Gopal and Vinay Kumar while CM Gautam looked to keep the innings afloat. Gautam was the last to return to the pavilion; sent back by Dhiraj Singh for 54 to end the Karnataka innings.

In reply, Odisha were 42 for two at stumps by the Vinay Kumar-led team. While Ronit More was run out, Sandeep Pattanaik was sent back by A Sreenath.

Coming to the crease at 32 for two, Sheldon Jackson powered the team to 301 for one with a well compiled 116-run knock. While opener SS Patel chipped in 40 runs, Chirag Jani’s 78 lower down the order was vital in helping the side post a competitive first innings score as the rest of the batsmen perished without much resistance. Rajneesh Gurabani claimed four wickets while Lalit and Akshay Wakhare picked two wickets apiece to bowl Saurashtra out on the first day. When play ended for the day, Vidarbha had scored four runs in one over.

Assam vs Maharashtra in Chennai:
Maha 1st inn 352/5 in 90 overs (K Jadhav 115, N Shaikh 97, Syed Mohammed 2/63) NS Shaikh (97) and Kedar Jadhav’s 115-run knock helped Maharashtra to 352 for five on the first day of the ongoing game.

Electing to bat first, they lost M Trunkwala to S Purkayashta with 54 runs on the board. S Gugale was the next to be sent back for 50 by Mrinmoy Dutta leaving the team on 83 for two. Shaikh, was then joined in the middle by Jadhav and the pair took the team to 266 until the middle-order bat’s whirlwind knock was ended by Syed Mohammed. The hard-hitting batsman scored 115 off 106 balls to put Maharashtra in an advantageous position. The No 3 batsman, who had held up one end, took the team to 325 before returning to the pavilion. He was soon followed back by Ankit Bawane. When play ended for the day, Chirag Khurana was batting with V More.
