Bumrah’s 6/71 denies Mumbai 1st innings lead

Jasprit Bumrah bowled Gujarat to a narrow 15-run first innings lead with a six-wicket haul against Mumbai.

Centurions Devendra Bundela and S Sharma helped MP to a first innings lead against Railways while Tamil Nadu took first innings lead against Punjab.

Group A, Round 7 - Day 4 Round-up:

Punjab vs Tamil Nadu in Nagpur: Punjab 1st inn 284/10 (Manan Vohara 73, Uday Kaul 56, Gitansh Khera 40*, Vignesh K 4/104) & 375/5 decl (Mandeep Singh 128, K Vignesh 2/72) drew match Tamil Nadu 354/10 (Kaushik Gandhi 164, Dinesh Karthik 54) & 103/1 (A Mukund 67*) Tamil Nadu took first innings lead

Having conceded the first innings lead to Tamil Nadu, Punjab went on to post 375 for five before declaring their second innings. Mandeep Singh scored 128 while Manpreet Singh Grewal made 66 not out as they set the opposition a 306-run target on the fourth day.

With an inevitable draw in sight, Abhinav Mukund had taken Tamil Nadu to 103 for one until the match ended in a draw.

Gujarat vs Mumbai in Hubli: Gujarat 437/10 (Priyank Panchal 232, Samit Gohil 87, M Juneja 48, Vishal Dabholkar 6/118) & 82/0 (P Panchal 56*, S Gohil 18*) drew with Mumbai 422/10 (S Iyer 194, S Thakur 56, J Bumrah 6/71) Gujarat took 1st innings lead

After resuming his innings on 191, Shreyas Iyer was the first wicket to fall on the fourth morning as Mumbai strove to take a first innings lead. The top-order bat was sent back for 194 by Rush Kalaria leaving Mumbai on 333 for seven. With the table toppers trailing by 104 runs, Shardul Thakur joined Shubham Ranjane in the middle. However, 10 runs later the debutant was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. Adiyta Dhumal then joined Thakur to take the team forward but was trapped lbw by Karan Patel leaving the team on 381 for nine.

Thakur however, continued to rally on with Vishal Dabholkar and completed his half-century as they tried to close in on Gujarat’s first innings total of 437. However, the lower-order bat was sent back by Bumrah for 56 helping Gujarat bowl Mumbai out for 422. The pacer finished with six wickets in the innings as he bowled the side to a crucial first innings lead.

When the match ended in a draw, Gujarat were 82 without loss in the second innings.
 
Madhya Pradesh vs Railways in New Delhi: Railways 1st inn 371/10 (Nitin Bhille 102*, S Wakaskar 62, Ankit Sharma 6/108) & 150/1 (S Wakaskar 71*, S Shukla 57) drew with Madhya Pradesh 510/8 decl. (D Bundela 188, S Sharma 119, A Yadav 3/106) Madhya Pradesh took first innings lead.

Skipper Devendra Bundela batted Madhya Pradesh to a first innings lead against Railways with a 382-ball 188-run knock with SS Sharma(119). In reply to the oppositions 371-run total in the first innings, the batsmen helped the team to 406 after resuming on 356 for five in the morning before Sharma was bowled by Karn Sharma. 73 runs later the MP captain was sent back by Deepak Bansal. A while later with the team was on 510 for eight, MP declared their first innings. When the match ended, the Railways were 150 for one in their second innings.
