Shri Bharat Shah former President of Saurashtra Cricket Association passed away on the morning of January 19 at Mumbai after long illness. He was 71 and is survived by his wife, son and a daughter.
Bharat Shah was closely associated with Saurashtra Cricket Association and contributed well in its development with his vision and experience. He was President of the association from 1994 to 2013. He was also a former Ranji Trophy player.
Niranjan Shah, Hony. Secretary of Saurashtra Cricket Association, on behalf of the President, himself, Governing body, members and office bearers of Saurashtra Cricket Association, expressed deep grief at the sad demise of Shri Bharat Shah.
“His love and affection for cricket was remarkable and unforgettable,” Niranjan Shah expressed, “Bharat Shah’s sad demise is a great loss not only to the Association but also to Cricket of the region. He shall be remembered for his significant and immeasurable contribution to cricket in Saurashtra.
“Everyone in Saurashtra Cricket Association prayed for Bharat bhai’s departed noble soul. Two minutes silence was observed before starting of the Inter District Under-19 tournament match at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.”
