After finishing the group stage on a high with three straight wins, India U19 will face Namibia U19 in the quarterfinal of the ICC U19 World Cup on Saturday in Fatullah. Namibia sealed the second spot behind hosts Bangladesh when they shocked defending champions South Africa by two wickets in their second game. South Africa could not recover from the loss and crashed out in the group stage of the tournament.
In their final group game, Namibia suffered a heavy defeat when Bangladesh shot the giant killers out for just 65 runs in 32.5 overs. They chased down the total in just 16 overs with the loss of two wickets.
Namibia captain Zane Green rued his team’s poor batting, but said the team would put up a better show against India. “It was not our best batting performance and a total of 65 was always going to be too little to defend," he said. “We should have added at least 100 more runs to make it competitive. But we will stay positive against India and will not back down.”
