International Domestic

Baba Aparajith - Travel diaries

My journey from the under 19 days to the senior domestic level has been exciting. There have been challenges which has taught me a lot.
In the initial days, I would not interact or socialize much, but then I realised what I was missing out on and took a step forward to change self. I started interacting with those around me without any inhibitions.

I've learnt to communicate well with other players in the team and developed friendships off the field. I also meet my friends who are in other teams.

These days I also try and go out to explore a bit. I like to explore new restaurants and different types of cuisines in every away match we play in the domestic circuit. It is fun to do such things. Travelling in metro, going to malls and good restaurants, trying out different food has become a routine now. Along the way I have acquired a taste for Japanese food as well.

I like visiting Delhi and Mumbai. I like to go for a walk at Marine Drive in Mumbai that overlooks the Arabian Sea. When I was there for a camp last season, we went for a walk every night since we stayed closed. Delhi is lovely place too. Unlike other cities where you need to travel by cab, one can travel by the Delhi Metro. I like traveling by the Metro as it helps me take my mind off the game.

I have also developed a liking for reading books and watching television shows like the ‘Modern Family’. Currently, I am reading this book called, ‘Think like a champion’, I like to read autobiographies and self development books, ‘Rafa’ is one my favourites.

My roommate, Aswin Crist and I have been playing together since the under-13 days and whenever we get time, we watch movies or TV together. We have always done that and we still continue doing so. We normally land at the venue of our match two days prior, so we try and watch a movie on the first day which is relatively free.
