Excerpts

On the wicket

As compared to the first day, the pitch has become better. On the first day, because of the moisture, the spinners [benefitted]. Now the wicket has slowed down.

On the team’s strategy going into Day 4

I think the way our guys are batting, if we get a 150-200 run lead, it will be fantastic. [Australia] will be under pressure [as to] whether [they should] attack or play the day out.

On Sachin Tendulkar’s innings

When Sachin Tendulkar plays the whole nation watches him. That’s the effect he has in India and everywhere cricket exists.

On whether Sachin was looking good for a triple century

The way he is playing, the way everything is progressing, I wish he scores a triple hundred.
