McCullum reached his hundred with a six (off Ishant). Interestingly in the previous Test also he had reached the three-figure mark in similar fashion (off Jadeja).

McCullum has now reached a hundred with a six on three occasions in Test cricket. Apart from two such occasions against India, he also did so against Bangladesh at Hamilton in 2009-10. No other New Zealand batsman has reached hundred with a six on more than occasion.

BJ Watling completed his 1000 runs in Tests in 21 Tests.

The 158-run unbroken partnership between McCullum and Watling is New Zealand’s highest sixth wicket partnership against India. The pair obliterated the previous record stand of 137 between Craig McMillan and Chris Cairns also at Wellington in 1998-99.

The above partnership is also New Zealand’s third highest for the sixth wicket at home.
