The Gambhir-Kohli partnership of 205 runs is the highest second-wicket partnership in the Asia Cup. The pair obliterated the previous record stand of 198 between Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina against Pakistan at Karachi in 2008.

The above partnership was the fourth double-hundred partnership in the Asia Cup for any wicket – the first for India.

The Gambhir-Kohli pair has now aggregated 1762 runs in 27 innings at an average of 70.48 with six hundred and three 50 stands. Among all batsmen who have batted together at least 25 times in ODIs, Gambhir-Kohli have the highest average.

Kohli became the fastest player to score 10 ODI hundreds, taking only 80 innings to do so. The previous record was held by West Indies’ Gordon Greenidge with 99 innings . South Africa’s Hashim Amla, with nine hundreds in 56 innings, looks set to break Kohli’s record.
