Delhi, Oct 18: R Vinay Kumar posted his best ever ODI bowling figures (four for 30) as India cruised to an eight-wicket win against England in the second ODI of the five-match series between the two sides. The win itself was India’s sixth consecutive victory at home as well as their 10th successive win against England at home. Alastair Cook registered his fourth duck in his 38th match – his first as captain in 15th match. He had a batting average of 56.92 with one hundred and six fifties in his 14 previous innings as captain.

Cook and Kieswetter provided the sixth instance when both openers failed to open their account in an ODI against India. The pair is the second from England to suffer this fate against India. Matt Prior and Luke Wright had also failed to open their account against India at Lord’s in 2007.

R Vinay Kumar (4-30) achieved his best figures in ODIs bettering his 2-51 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in 2010.

R Vinay Kumar’s figures are also the fourth best by an Indian pacer against England after Ashish Nehra’s 6-21 at Durban in 2003, Sreesanth’s 6-55 at Indore in 2006 and Javagal Srinath’s 5 for 41 at Bangalore in 1993.

The Gambhir-Kohli partnership of 209* runs is India’s best for any wicket against England. The pair obliterated the 192-run partnership between Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly for first wicket at Colombo RPS in 2002.

Virat Kohli (112*) scored his seventh ODI hundred in his 66th ODI – his second in 8th ODI vs England and his fourth in 25th ODI at home.

Kohli also completed his 1,000 runs in ODIs in the year 2011, becoming the third batsman to accomplish this feat this year after Jonathan Trott (1173) and Shane Watson (1075)

The win was India’s sixth in consecutive matches at home.

India have now lost only twice in last 22 matches at home. Both the defeats came against South Africa. During this period, India won 18 matches, one match was tied and one was no-result.
