We collect and why, how we use it, and how to review and update it.Mumbai, June 20: Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has come out of Twenty20 retirement, making himself available for the national team’s campaign in Sri Lanka for the ICC World Twenty20 in September and October later this year.
"His availability is a real boost for the Black Caps with his style of bowling well suited to conditions in Sri Lanka," New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White was quoted as saying.
Vettori had earlier told the media that he would consider playing in the tournament if asked.
The legendary leg-spinner has collected 35 wickets from 28 T20Is for New Zealand at an average of 16.57 at an economy rate of under six runs per over. The former Twenty20 world No. 1 ranked bowler has also been part of the Indian Premier League, Australia's Big Bash and New Zealand Cricket's (NZC) own HRV Cup.
"Twenty20 is a format Dan enjoys and the opportunity to be part of a team which competes at a world event is enticing for him," National Selection Manager Kim Littlejohn told the media.
"He has been encouraged by his teammates, coaching staff and others at NZC. We are thrilled to have him in the mix. He will offer a lot to the side," Littlejohn added.
The preliminary squad for the ICC World Twenty20 will be announced on July 18.
