Vijay Hazare final: Jharkhand v Gujarat

Indore, March 2: Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem claimed four wickets to help Jharkhand thrash Gujarat by 159 runs and win the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Nadeem grabbed four scalps and caused a run-out in a collapse where Gujarat lost eight wickets for 22 runs.

Electing to bat first, Jharkhand scored 255 for 8 wickets in 50 overs at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, while Gujarat were bowled out for just 96 in 24 overs.

Gujarat started off well when they dismissed Subroto Ghosh (12), Akash Verma (25) and Saurabh Tiwary (19) cheaply. Ishank Jaggi and Kumar Deobrat scored half-centuries while wicketkeeper Shiv Gautam and number eight Varun Aaron share a brisk partnership of 51 in just 23 balls to help Jharkhand post 255.

Chasing the target, Gujarat lost captain Parthiv Patel and Avi Barot in the first two overs.

Manprit Juneja and Niraj Patel tried to revive the innings with a steady 68-run stand, but the innings fell apart after that. Niraj (46*) was left to see the capitulation at the other end as each of the remaining Gujarat batsmen failed to offer any resistance.

Only two batsmen in the innings reached double-figures, as the Gujarat reply lasted just 24 overs.

Brief Scores: Jharkhand 255 for eight in 50 overs (Ishank Jaggi 58, Kumar Deobrat 52) beat Gujarat 96 all out in 24 overs (Niraj Patel 46*, Shahbaz Nadeem 4/6) by 159 runs.
