Prefer to look at the positives: Yusuf

New Delhi, July 27: Yusuf Pathan, who is currently on a break after an indifferent performance in the West Indies, is not unduly worried about his form.  Looking forward to the season ahead, the all-rounder believes that things will fall into place for him.

"I may not have scored too many runs but I am not really disappointed with my performance in the West Indies. I would like to look at the positive side of it. I scored 30 in the last match and felt good as I was hitting the ball well," the towering all-rounder from Baroda was quoted as saying.

"I don't think I have a problem with short-pitched bowling. And in any case when I encounter any problem, the best thing is to ask the senior Indian players. Once I talk to them, I can easily take corrective measures. Speaking to Irfan [Pathan] also helps as he knows my game inside out,” said the older Pathan sibling, known for his uncomplicated approach to the game.

Yusuf, whose ability to play the short-ball has been questioned by experts since the World Cup, disagrees with the criticism "You can have a look at my dismissals. Have I recently been dismissed to short-pitched stuff?" he asked.

Looking forward to working with new coach Duncan Fletcher, he added, "The ODI series in the Caribbean was the first time I interacted with Duncan. The more we get to know each other, we will have a better working relationship. Obviously, he pointed out subtle things on which I would be working in the nets. "

"Once it stops raining, I will start full-fledged net sessions. Irfan will be there and the other Ranji Trophy bowlers [too]. So I expect to have some quality sessions," he said hopefully.

Although he has been training regularly in the gym, the ongoing monsoons have prevented him attending proper net sessions.

"Irfan has been bowling beautifully. Recently, we played a practice match and he bowled really well. He is getting back his rhythm and I am happy for him," he said.

Yusuf, who is on a welcome break after a hectic year, admitted, "It's been a great last few days for me. I got to spend a lot of time with my family. I am not someone who loves hanging out and watching movies. So it was quality time at home."
