Match Report: Canada v Kenya

Delhi, March 7: Canada defeated Kenya by five wickets in a low-scoring Group A 2011 ICC World Cup game at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi today. 

Chasing a score of 198, Canada skipper Ashish Bagai  (64 not out ) and Jimmy Hansra (70 runs) ensured a win for their side after they had lost the top three batsman for 48 runs by the end of the 11th over.  In the end Canada reached their target comfortably with four and a half overs to spare.

Earlier,  after Kenya captain Jimmy Kamande won the toss and opted to bat first at Feroz Shah Kotla, Kenya set Canada a target of 199 runs. Opener Maurice Ouma  was dismissed by Henry Osinde  off the second ball of the innings without a run on the scoreboard. Osinde struck again in the fifth over to send back Serene Waters.  By the 12th over Kenya were tottering at  4/41  as Osinde sent back David Obuya (2) as well. A lower order effort by Tanmay Mishra and number eight batsman Thomas Odoyo then helped Kenya reach a score of 198 as both batsmen posted an individual score of 51.  

This match was played between the bottom two teams in Group A. A win for Canada means that they are now in sixth position with two points, while Kenya, who are yet to register a win in the competition, are placed at number seven.
