Mumbai, March 09: Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has paid tribute to Rahul Dravid calling his Rajasthan Royals captain the “nicest guy” he has known. The acknowledgement came on the occasion of Dravid’s retirement from international cricket after a much-decorated career that lasted 16 years.
Dravid became part of the Royals in the last season of the IPL. He has now taken over the reins of the team from the retired Shane Warne.
"I've been very lucky to have a really good association with Rahul. He's probably the nicest guy – no, he is the nicest guy – that I've met in cricket. He's a phenomenal man,” Watson said.
The Australian all-rounder hailed Dravid for his commitment to cricket, saying the parting No. 3 batsman would leave a void in the Indian Test side.
“He loves the game with so much passion, it's in his blood and in his heart. He is certainly going to be sorely missed by the Indian public and the cricket-loving public as well," Watson told an Australian daily.
"I suppose I'm lucky that he's my captain for Rajasthan [Royals] so I'll continue to talk cricket as much as I possibly can because I do love talking to him. He's got a lot of knowledge to be able to give.”
Dravid has called time on his Test career with 13,288 runs, 36 tons and 210 catches in 164 matches to his credit.
