Fit to play cricket again: Bhajji

New Delhi, Feb 11: Having missed the better part of the Ranji Trophy due to a shin injury, Harbhajan Singh has confirmed he is now fit to get back on the cricket field. The offspinner aims to return to competitive cricket with the Vijay Hazare Trophy that begins on February 20 in Delhi.

"I am fully fit and ready for competitive cricket. I will be making a comeback during the Zonal One-dayers where I will be leading the Punjab side," Harbhajan said.

The feisty offie has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and is pretty pleased with the progress.

"I have been bowling regularly at the NCA and haven't encountered any problems. My fight to make a comeback into the national team will start with the zonal one-dayers and hopefully I will be able to perform to the best of my abilities," he said.

Harbhajan found himself confronted with a difficult phase when he was dropped from the national team after India’s disastrous tour of England. He went back to domestic cricket, playing the Chllenger Trophy and captaining the Punjab team in the initial three matches of the Ranji Trophy before being sidelined with a shin injury. His aim now is to return to Team India, no matter what the route.

"For me, it's about performing and making a comeback to the Indian team as soon possible. Playing county cricket is certainly not a bad idea. I can only take a call once the Indian Premier League is over but it also depends on whether the BCCI will allow me to go and play a few matches in county cricket," Harbhajan said.

Delhi host Punjab in the first one-day match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Feroz Shah Kotla on February 22.
