We collect and why, how we use it, and how to review and update it.New Delhi, March 9: With a sparkler of an innings of 27, Sachin Tendulkar went past the 2000-run mark in World Cup cricket while Yuvraj Singh crossed the 100-wicket mark in ODI cricket, claiming batsmen Wesley Barresi and Ryan ten Doeschate. We give you a quick glimpse of these and other statistical highlights from today’s 2011 ICC World Cup game between India and Netherlands:
2009: Runs scored by Sachin Tendulkar in World Cup competitions. He became the first batsman to aggregate 2,000 runs at the cricket World Cup.
82: Runs scored by Indian batsmen in the mandatory Powerplay (overs 1.0 to 10.0) – most by any side in this tournament. Sri Lanka had made 81 for the loss of one wicket against Kenya at Colombo RPS on March 1.
45.15: Harbhajan’s bowling average in World Cup competitions. This is the highest by a specialist Indian bowler in World Cup competitions.
34: Zaheer’s wicket tally in World Cup competitions. He became the second most successful Indian bowler in the cricket World Cup after Javagal Srinath (44), moving ahead of Anil Kumble’s tally of 31 wickets.
8: Number of batsmen dismissed on duck by Zaheer Khan in World Cup competitions. This is the most by an Indian. He was earlier level with Javagal Srinath with 7 such duck dismissals.
3: Number of fifties scored by Yuvraj Singh in the 2011 ICC World Cup. He had made 58 against England, 50 not out against Ireland and 51 not out in this match. He became the sixth Indian batsman to score three consecutive fifties in the cricket World Cup after Sachin Tendulkar (twice), Navjot Sidhu, Sunil Gavaskar, Mohammad Azharuddin and Rahul Dravid.
3: Yuvraj Singh became the third Indian to achieve the all-round double of 5,000 runs and 100 wickets after Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.
2: Number of times Yuvraj has scored a fifty and taken at least 2 wickets in the same World Cup match. He had made an unbeaten 50 against Ireland besides taking five wickets against Ireland. Yuvraj thus equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s Indian record of most such instances in the cricket World Cup.
