India stay on top of ICC Test rankings

Dubai, July 11: India continue to maintain their No. 1 position in the latest ICC Test Rankings having won the three-match Test series against West Indies 1-0.

India are currently the table toppers with 126 points while West Indies are placed seventh with 88 points. Despite losing to India, WI have gained two points in the rankings.  South Africa are at the No. 2 position with 117 points while England are at No. 3 with 116 points.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh (677 points) has replaced Ishant Sharma (671 points) at the No. 7 position in the ICC Player Rankings for bowlers in Test cricket.

Harbhajan claimed a total of 11 wickets, six of which came in the third Test. In the process he became the third Indian bowler after Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble to take 400 wickets in Test cricket.

Man-of-the-Series Ishant Sharma’s 22 wickets against WI are the most by an Indian in a three-match series; the pacer led the pace attack admirably in the absence of Zaheer Khan. His bowling partner, debutant Praveen Kumar who made his way to the top 50 for the first time ever, is ranked 42nd.

West Indiesfast bowler Fidel Edwards gained two places and shares the 16th place with South African spinner Paul Harris.
