Uncapped 22-year-old Middlesex fast bowler James Harris has been named as Broad’s replacement and Eoin Morgan will lead the team in his absence.
Steven Finn, who, along with Broad, is sitting out the fourth Test, will also return home with a strained disk in his back.
England will play two T20Is, on Dec 20 and 22 in Pune and Mumbai respectively.
