Report: Ind U19 vs SA U19

India Under-19 beat South Africa Under-19 by 201 runs in the Quadrangular Under-19 series final at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. After their batmen posted 267 on the board the home team’s bowlers bundled out the opposition for a paltry 66 to take the team to an easy victory.

Earlier, invited to bat, the hosts lost opener Ankush Bains with just three runs on the board but the middle-order ensured that India A post a competitive target for SA U19. Skipper Vijay Zol scored 71 before being sent back by Hayes van der Berg while Ricky Bhui contributed with 46 runs. Lower-order bat Sarfaraz Khan made an unbeaten 67 and Deepak Hooda chipped in with 32.

Justin Dill, who picked the key wicket of Akhil Herwadakar, also sent back Bhui and Hooda to finish with three wickets.

Defending the total the India Under-19 bowlers ran through the SA Under-19 line-up, dismissing them in 28.1 overs.  The run-out of opener Clyde Fortuin set the downfall of the visitors. Khan returned to contribute with the ball as well. The off-spinner and left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav claimed two each while another offie, Aamir Gani, accounted for three.  Hooda chipped in with one wicket to help the Indian colts win the title.

Brief scores: India Under-19 267/6 in 50 overs (V Zol 71, S Khan 67*, J Dill 3/63) beat South Africa Under-19  66 all out in 28.1 overs (J Smith 23, A Gani 3/18, S Khan 2/9, K Yadav 2/13) by 201 runs.
