The Men in Blue were once again led from the front by MS Dhoni, who scored a vital 36. Dhoni also effected two dismissals in this match while keeping wicket; this took his career ODI tally to the 200 mark.
Earlier, during his innings, the Indian skipper finally got out on home soil in ODIs for the first time since March 2011. During this period he played eight innings and scored a whopping 506 runs. Here are these and many more stats highlights from what turned out to be an amazing rivalry game:
This was the second match between India and Pakistan at Feroz Shah Kotla. Both sides have now won one match each here.
Shami Ahmed was making his ODI debut. He became the 195th player to represent India in ODIs.
Ishant Sharma was playing his 50th ODI. Interestingly, he became 50th Indian to do so.
MS Dhoni was dismissed in an ODI at home for the first time in 8 innings, after scoring 506 runs. Before today, he had last lost his wicket at home against Pakistan at Mohali in March 2011.
India’s total of 167 was the lowest total by any side in the first innings of a match at Feroz Shah Kotla. New Zealand’s 179/9 against India in 1999 was the previous lowest.
Saeed Ajmal’s figures of 5 for 24 are the best by a Pakistan spinner in India and fourth best by any spinner against India anywhere.

Umar Akmal reached 2000 runs in ODIs. He became the 23rd Pakistan player to do so.
Shami Ahmed bowled four maidens – most by an Indian in his debut game. Three bowlers – Manoj Prabhakar, Vijay Bharadwaj and Bhuvneshwar Kumar – had also bowled three maidens on debut.
Dhoni’s catch of Saeed Ajmal was his 200th in ODIs. He is the first Indian and only the sixth wicketkeeper overall to do so, after Adam Gilchrist (417), Mark Boucher (402),Kumar Sangakkara (311), Brendon McCullum (218) and Moin Khan (214).
India’s total of 167 is the second lowest total successfully defended by them against Pakistan, after 125 at Sharjah in 1985.
