We collect and why, how we use it, and how to review and update it.Mumbai Jan 10: TheIndian Women’s side lost the opening match of the five-ODI series against the West Indies unable to defend 161 runs. In the aftermath of the loss, Indian skipper Jhulan Goswami spoke to bcci.tv about the team and their performance.
Excerpts from the interview
On her first thoughts about the defeat
First of all, I am really disappointed because we didn’t expect to lose, but it is part of the game. They played really well. Especially their batting and bowling was superb and they dominated the game throughout the match.
On being asked to pick the point at which she thought the match was out of their hands
[…] we bowled a little bit [inconsistently], [we] could not restrict [the West Indies batsmen]. [We squandered] a few half-chances and [were guilty of] a few dropped catches and that makes a difference. But if you are playing for India, it should not happen. We are the best team in India. We are the best girls. There should be no excuses, but still it’s a long way to go. It’s an odd day for us, you can say. [There are] still four matches to go. We are looking forward to playing some positive cricket, that’s important for all.
On the game plan for the next match
Definitely we want to level the series first. That’s important and to play some positive cricket [is our plan].
On whether they would maintain the same playing eleven
Let’s see, tomorrow we are leaving [for Vadodara]. Let’s go there and we will discuss [the squad]. We will have a team meeting. We will want to know where we are lacking. The best team will ultimately play.
