Wasim Jaffer’s 431-ball 286 helped Vidarbha to 702 for five on Day 3 until bad weather stopped play in Nagpur in the third session. The day was marred by inclement weather. After a delayed start due to rain, only 28 overs of play was possible on Day 3. Apoorv Wankhade was stranded on 99 with A Sarvate on four when play was called off for the day.
After the day’s play commenced in the afternoon, Siddharth Kaul uprooted Jaffer’s off-stump on the 15th delivery of the day. The senior batsmen returned to the pavilion for the addition of just one run to his overnight score; missing out on a much deserving triple century.
With Vidarbha on 600 for four, Akshay Wadkar joined Apoorv Wankhade in the middle and the pair continued to glean runs. The duo took the side to Tea at 686 for four.
Early into the final session of the day, Wadkar departed nicking a Shahbaz Nadeem delivery to the wicket-keeper. Wankhade, then took Vidarbha past the 700-run mark with A Sarvate until play was stopped due to bad light and couldn’t be resumed.
