Mumbai, Oct 3:  Mandeep Singh and Ashok Menaria helped India A pile on 433 runs on the first day of their second four-day match against New Zealand A .

After opting to bat first at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln, India lost their opening pair early in the innings. Andrew McKay trapped Unmukt Chand lbw for seven while Brent Arnel dismissed Abhinav Mukund for 12 to leave India on 31 for two. Anustup Majumdar and Mandeep Singh then added 94 for the third wicket before Arnel struck again. The pacer castled Majumdar for 56 and followed up with the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav in his next over.

However, Menaria, who then joined Mandeep at the crease, scored freely off the Kiwi bowlers as his partner chipped away at the bowling attack. Their partnership was unbroken on 294 when bad light stopped play. Mandeep was unbeaten on 169 off 234 balls (20x4, 1x6) while Menaria was not out on 164 off 169 balls (21x4, 2x6) when play was called off.
