Robin Uthappa made his ODI debut way back in April 2006 against England. It was a promising debut as Uthappa made a steady 86 before he was run-out. A year later, Uthappa would again showcase his talent as he played a 33-ball 47 against England in the sixth ODI at the Oval, which helped India chase down a 300 plus score. In the same year, in 2007, Uthappa also starred in India’s T20 World Cup winning squad with a couple of handy knocks against Pakistan and Australia in the tournament.
However, Uthappa, the son of an international hockey referee, Venu Uthappa, disappointed on that initial promise. His last T20 appearance for the country was in February 2008. And since his last 20 ODI innings saw him get past the 50-run mark only once, he was subsequently dropped from the Indian ODI side in mid-2008.
Uthappa has previously played for the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. His current IPL team is the Pune Warriors India.
