Pragyan Ojha played U-15 interstate cricket tournament in Orissa before moving to Hyderabad – a side he represents at the Ranji Trophy. A left-arm spinner in the orthodox mould, Ojha was one of the few spinners who performed consistently in the first three seasons of the IPL while playing for the Deccan Chargers.
He made his Test debut for India in 2009, against Sri Lanka, and has shown the ability to keep things tight. Unafraid to toss the ball up to the batsman, Ojha has also shown fine temperament, a quality that has earned him a place in India’s ODI and T20I squads. But while his bowling career is still in its infancy, Ojha has earned his stripes by holding his nerve as VVS Laxman’s partner in the famous last-wicket win against Australia in the Mohali Test of October 2010.
